Step Up 4 Good October 2018: get energised and support local causes through the Good Exchange

Step Up 4 GoodGreenham Trust has announced the return of its Step Up 4 Good charity run event on 14th October at Greenham Common. The family friendly event offers a range of scenic runs for people of all ages and abilities and supports local community projects through The Good Exchange.

Three events are available for running enthusiasts:
•    Mini Mile for younger children and families;
•    5K fun run for older children and families;
•    10K race for runners aged 15 and above.

Each entrant will receive a race t-shirt and bespoke medal. Additionally, official chip timing will be set up for each competitor. The beautiful Greenham Common provides runners with a flat course for first-time runners and promises a terrific community atmosphere.

10K 2017 runner, Matthew Green said, “I was really pleased with the course. It is always great to run around Greenham Common – the scenery of the course was amazing and helped to distract me from the fatigue during the race! It was well signposted, and the lead vehicle was a really good idea as I didn’t have to worry about getting lost and could just focus on running as quickly as possible.

The 10k start at StepUp4Good 2017“I have run the 10K race both of the last two years, and the main thing which attracts me is the fact that the race is to raise funds for local charities and projects. It is great news that the race has grown since its first year and hopefully next year will be bigger again.”

Speaking of Step Up 4 Good 2017, Chris Boulton, chief executive of Greenham Trust, stated: “It goes beyond just running; the event raises money for deserving local projects whilst bringing together individuals from every part of the community. The event’s popularity is a testament to its contribution to society and would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the volunteers, local businesses and team members here at the Trust.”

For those wishing to contribute off the track, there are a number of volunteering opportunities and the Race Village offers businesses the chance to support the event. For more information contact Louise at Greenham Trust – 01635 817445 / louise.brookes@greenhamtrust.com.
