Greenham Trust announces first two charity partners for its £25k in a Day event

Greenham Trust is delighted to announce that Newbury Riding for the Disabled and Age Concern Newbury & District who run the Fair Close Centre have been selected to take part in their first two ‘£25k in a Day’ events in 2022.  These two local charities will each have the opportunity to raise over £31,250 in just one day thanks to quintuple matched funding from Greenham Trust. For each £1 raised over a 24 hour period, Greenham Trust will award £5 in matched funding. With Gift Aid this can take the total achievable to £31,250.

Newbury Riding for the Disabled are looking to raise money to build an Outdoor Arena with an all-weather surface at their stables at Wyld Court in Hampstead Norreys. As well as the benefits of being outdoors in the fresh air, the new facility will provide a safer surface to ride on and enable riders to increase their range of experience and sense of achievement.

Age Concern Newbury & District needs to raise funds to replace obsolete heating and hot water boilers with high efficiency condensing boilers at the Fair Close Centre.  This equipment is urgently needed to maintain the effective running of the building and the essential Meals on Wheels service relied on by vulnerable elderly members of the community.

Chris Boulton said: “We are delighted to be supporting Newbury Riding for the Disabled and Age Concern Newbury & District with our ‘£25k in a Day’ fundraising initiative, part of our 25th Anniversary calendar of activities.  We received a large number of high quality applications but these two projects stood out for much needed capital items which may not otherwise go ahead.”

Catherine Wilson, Secretary and Trustee for Newbury RDA said: “Newbury Riding for the Disabled is absolutely thrilled to be part of £25k in a Day so that we can put the money towards building an Outdoor Arena. This will have huge benefits for our riders, ponies and volunteers.   To be the recipient of these funds, the charity must raise £5k in a day and so will be holding a sponsored walk/run/cycle on Sunday 29th May in the beautiful countryside around Hampstead Norreys “5k for £5k”. We welcome every one of you to come and join us and help raise as much money as we can towards this project. None of this would be possible without the generosity and ongoing support of Greenham Trust.”

Josie Reed Chair of Trustees for Age Concern, Newbury & District said: “The chance to raise over £30,000 in a day is a rare one and I am hugely grateful to Greenham Trust for giving us this opportunity. Yet again the Trust comes to our rescue as we face a crisis, this time the need to replace old heating and hot water boilers at the Fair Close Centre. How lucky we are to have the Greenham Trust to help us at critical moments such as this.’

The £25k in a Day on-line events on The Good Exchange platform will take place on Friday 27th May for the Fair Close Centre and on Tuesday 31st May for Newbury RDA.  If you would like to give and see your donations quintupled please click on the project links on: https://greenhamtrust.com/25kinaday .
