Christmas “Double Matched Day” Finalist’s Update

Your donations to these 10 charities will be tripled this Friday 11th December with The Good Exchange and Greenham Trust Christmas “Double Matched Day”

This Friday 11th December, 10 local charitable organisations for causes ranging from providing housing and support for 16-25-year-old care leavers and homeless, to supporting the families of seriously ill children, will be participating in the Christmas “Double Matched Day” hosted on The Good Exchange platform. If you donate anytime between 00:01 to 24:00 (midnight) on Friday 11th December 2020, these charitable organisations will treble of all monies they raise on their fundraising project on The Good Exchange up to £5,000 – meaning for each £1 donated Greenham Trust will award £2 up to a maximum of £5,000 in donations and £10,000 in matched funding.

The selected local causes will be holding exciting fundraising activities on and around the 11th December including:

1. Berkshire Maestros will see the students and staff of Maestros undertaking an epic 11-hour non-stop music and entertainment broadcast on YouTube to support primary and secondary school children with music workshops that will further children’s emotional, social and personal development. 2. Bradfield Village Hall – as part of its fundraising towards a new village hall for the benefit of all the community, the team will be ‘Stepping into the future’ on Friday 11th December, and walking 1,112 times around the virtual foundations of the new hall and games area. 3. Fair Close Centre – To raise money to cover income lost due to COVID-19 that will help the many over 65s who live alone and are becoming increasingly isolated, , you can guess the weight of Baby Buttons, a tiny chestnut welsh mountain foal hand reared after her mother died, here. You can also support Johnny Reed (aged 68) who will shave off his moustache (aged 40) and his goatee beard if he raises £500. Donate here on the 11th December.
4. Greenham Control Tower – On 11 December the team at Greenham Control Tower will be selling books, serving takeaway teas and coffees and shaking buckets to help raise funds to allow Greenham Control Tower continue to help visitors celebrate the rich history of the area. 5. Pamber Heath Memorial Hall – To raise funds on Double Matched Day so it can continue to provide for the community, Pamber Heath Memorial Hall is holding a cake sale from 10am – 4pm (or until they are sold out!) Come along and support the cause. Donate here on the 11th December.
6. Recovery in Mind has held a series of online quizzes to support the mental health recovery of adults living in West Berkshire aged 18 and over who have a wide variety of mental health challenges. Donate here on the 11th December.
7. Sebastian’s Action Trust – On Friday 11th December, a fundraising day will be held at the Bas Books shop in Newbury which will include the sale of handmade wreaths; a toy raffle; a collection bucket and distribution of leaflets on how to donate. Staff will also be dressing up in festive attire to bring extra special cheer to the day to support families caring for seriously ill children. Donate here on the 11th December.
8. Swings & Smiles – Will hold a 24 hour bike-athon starting at Midnight on Thursday 10th through to Midnight alongside other fundraising activities such as a cake stall open 9-1pm, to provide children with special needs and their families opportunities for support, friendship and play in an accessible environment. 9. Time To Talk West Berkshire – Curridge Primary School is climbing Mount Everest and The Downs Year 7 are climbing Mount Kinabalu (ahead of their teacher climbing it for real next year) to help fund the increased demand for free at the point of delivery counselling for young people aged 11-25. 10. Young People & Children First is selling Christmas gifts, decorations and getting orders for Christmas cakes via its website to help provide young people (16-25-year-old care leavers and homeless) with the support, housing and life opportunities they deserve. Donate here on the 11th December.

All of the charities will feature live on Kennet Radio on Chris Boulton’s breakfast show this Friday between 7.15am to 9.30am to discuss this year’s incredibly meaningful fundraising opportunities.
