Greenham Trust’s 25th Anniversary Tree Project: Plant a Tree to support the Queen’s Green Canopy and Great Big Green Week

Greenham Trust will be celebrating its 25th anniversary during 2022. During this time the organisation has awarded an amazing £64m in charitable grants to local charities, community projects and voluntary organisations both large and small across West Berkshire and north Hampshire.

As part of the upcoming 25th anniversary celebrations and in support of the Queen’s Green Canopy (marking Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee) and Great Big Green Week, Greenham Trust is delighted to be working alongside West Berkshire Council to offer local schools, councils and community groups the opportunity to plant one or more trees to enhance the local environment for years to come.

The Trust plans to provide up to 25,000 trees to be planted throughout the region over the next planting seasons. An initial order has been placed for trees to be planted this Autumn and the Trust is now accepting applications for free trees.

Chris Boulton, Chief Executive of Greenham Trust, said: “The Trust is delighted to help in promoting the Queen’s Green Canopy Project locally as part of our own 25th Anniversary celebrations. We hope we can really make a difference to tree planting in West Berkshire and north Hampshire which will in its own way support the nationwide campaign to enhance our environment.”

Cllr Richard Somner, Executive Member for Planning, Transport and Countryside at West Berkshire Council, said: “We are thrilled to be part of this joint partnership to plant more trees across the district that not only helps celebrate Greenham Trust’s 25th anniversary, but also ties into the Great Big Green Week which is a national week of events celebrating action on climate change.

“We all have a part to play in making changes for a better environment for our future and as a Council we have been working hard on projects in regards to climate change and protecting green spaces through our Environment Strategy Delivery Plan.

“Every action, whether small or big, helps to make a difference and I would encourage as many people as possible to get involved and support this initiative for a cleaner, greener West Berkshire.”
