Greenham Trust drew its second Golden Ticket at the D-Day 75 Celebration event which took place at the 101 Outdoor Arts Centre on 4 and 5 June 2019. The lucky winner was Neil Batts from Reading who decided to award £1000 each to five different projects on www.thegoodexchange.com
The Golden Ticket is a new initiative launched by Greenham Trust in 2019 where one winner will be a drawn at random at each of their community events. The winner can choose to allocate a total of £5,000 funding from Greenham Trust to one local charitable project or split the total across a number of charitable projects on The Good Exchange.
The fist project to receive £1000 was Brookfields School Association who are creating a cycle track around the perimeter of their playing field to make cycling and general exercise available for all their pupils including those with mobility issues.
Charlotte Wilshire, fundraiser at Brookfields School said: “We were absolutely thrilled to hear that Neil has donated £1000 to Brookfields School to support our cycle track project. It was a lovely surprise to receive this unexpected news. Thank you so much to Neil and the Greenham Trust”
The Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent Hospice also received £1000 towards the cost of employing a dedicated family social car worker to support patients and families affected by an end of life diagnosis.
The next project to receive funding was West Berkshire Community Hospital League of Friends for their portable liver scanner. The hospital will now be able to purchase the scanner in the near future to aid earlier diagnosis of liver disease.
Newbury Soup Kitchen work with vulnerable clients helping them to improve their situation and future. The £1000 grant will be a valuable contribution to their running costs.
Finally, Time to Talk Wet Berkshire will receive £1000 towards their outreach service in Thatcham for counselling for young people aged 11 to 25.
Luisa Rayner from Time to Talk West Berkshire said: “We are delighted that Neil has chosen Time to Talk for his Golden Ticket nomination – the much needed funds will enable us to continue to support young people to the east of the county at our Thatcham Outreach Project.”

We ensure that our donations benefit local projects, and we are delighted that Neil has chosen a range of worthy causes to receive the funding.”
