Greenham Trust launches inaugural Charity Awards

Greenham Trust launches inaugural Charity Awards Event to recognise and celebrate the fantastic work of our local voluntary sector

Greenham Trust is delighted to announce that it will be hosting an Awards Evening on Thursday 2nd November at Newbury Corn Exchange to acknowledge and reward the great work of local charitable organisations, volunteers and fundraisers to improve the lives of others in West Berkshire and north Hampshire. This will be a fantastic opportunity for everyone to get together, collaborate and celebrate the incredible achievements of the voluntary sector.

Hosted by the Revd Richard Coles, cleric, broadcaster, author and former Communard, awards will recognise volunteers and fundraisers as well as local charitable organisations.  The headline sponsor for the Awards will be Newbury Building Society and we look forward to collaborating with them to deliver a first class event.

Awards will be given for the following categories:

Volunteer Awards:

Trustee of the Year

Voluntary Fundraiser of the Year

Volunteer of the Year

Charity Awards:

Charity of the Year for the Disadvantaged

Community Charity of the Year

Health and Wellbeing Charity of the Year

Young People Charity of the Year

Small Charity of the Year

The evening will culminate with the announcement of the Overall Charity of the Year.

Attendees at the Awards Event will also have the opportunity to win up to £500 for their nominated charity. Three lucky winners will be selected at random to win either £100, £250 or £500 for their chosen charity.

After the ceremony at the Corn Exchange, there will be an Oscars style After Party at Waterside Centre with food, drinks and entertainment to celebrate the achievements of the local community and promote collaboration.

Chris Boulton, Chief Executive of Greenham Trust, said “The last few years have been particularly tough in the voluntary sector with the Covid pandemic and cost of living crisis and we feel it’s important for everyone to get together and celebrate their fantastic work.  There is no similar event in West Berkshire and we are hoping that this will become a regular fixture on the calendar.  This should be an event that everyone in the voluntary sector will wish to attend.”

Emma Gentry, Marketing and Communications Manager at Newbury Building Society, commented: “We are extremely proud to have been invited to be the headline sponsor of the inaugural Greenham Trust Charity Awards. Greenham Trust has long been a force for good in the West Berkshire area, and their support of the community aligns very closely with our values as a mutual organisation. We are very much looking forward to recognising and celebrating the fantastic and tireless work of our local charities, community groups and volunteers.”

Full details of how to apply for an award, or nominate a worthy volunteer or fundraiser, are available on our website: greenhamtrust.com/awards.  The closing date for entries is Friday 15th September.
